Deana Elizabeth Young McAllister is the second daughter born to Bishop McKinley and Dr. Dorothy Jackson Young of the Third Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was born in Chicago, Illinois. Her family later relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where Deana attended Atlanta Public Schools. She is a graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and was certified to teach. She received her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership/School Administration from National-Louis University in Wheeling, Illinois.
Deana has taught in the Atlanta Public School System, the Detroit Public School System, Matteson Public School System in Matteson, Illinois and Wheaton Public Schools in Wheaton, Illinois. Deana served as the Director of Human Resources and Recruitment Coordinator for the Naperville Community Unit School District 203 in Naperville, Illinois. Most recently, Deana was an Assistant Principal in the Leon County School System at Amos P. Godby High School in Tallahassee, Florida. Presently, she is the Supervisor in Human Resources for Instructional staff for Leon County Schools.
Deana has served and worked in the African Methodist Episcopal Church her entire life. She has served the Women’s Missionary Society in many capacities. Deana has served as a local Y.P.D. Director, local WMS Treasurer and secretary, Area Membership and Recruitment Chair, Area Chairperson, Conference Branch Member, Fourth Episcopal District Young Recruitment Chair and as the Fourth Episcopal District Young Women’s Initiative Representative. Deana has served as co-leader of the Tallahassee District Minister’s Spouses and Widow’s Alliance and is the second vice-president of the Florida Conference Minister’s Souses and Widow’s Alliance. She is an active member of the Elkins-Williams Senior Missionary Society where she has helped to encourage young women between the ages of 18-40 to become active missionaries and where she also serves as the first vice-president for Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Tallahassee, Florida.
Deana is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the Tallahassee Chapter of Jack and Jill of America. She and her husband, the Reverend Dr. Julius Harrison McAllister are the proud parents of 13 year old, Julius Harrison McAllister III, 7 year old, Master Colin McKinley Young McAllister and 5 year old, Master Dylan David Jeremiah McAllister.
